Fence Questions, Answered
If your question is not here, call or send it over. We will answer it straight.
How much does a fence cost in Maine?
Cost depends on linear footage, material, height, gates, terrain and whether an old fence has to come out. We give a written estimate after seeing the property rather than quoting a per-foot number that changes once we get there.
What fencing material works well in Maine?
Vinyl, wood, chain link and aluminum can all work well here. The choice comes down to the property's style, desired privacy, care preferences, pets, gates and budget. Professional post setting, drainage and snow planning support every material.
How long does installation take?
Many residential fences go in over one to three days once materials arrive. Length, gates, terrain and access change that.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. Estimates are free and written, so you can see what's included.
Do you remove old fencing?
Yes. Removal, post extraction and disposal are quoted as part of a replacement project.
Do you install gates?
Yes: walk gates, double drive gates, wide equipment access and pool gates with self-closing hardware.
Can fencing be installed during winter?
Some winter installation is possible depending on conditions, frost depth and the site. It's project-specific, so ask us about your timeline.
What is the best fence for dogs?
It depends on the dog. Height, spacing, visibility, digging habits and gate placement all matter. Chain link, wood, vinyl and puppy-picket aluminum can each be configured for different dogs and properties.
What is the best privacy fence?
Solid wood and vinyl are both popular privacy choices. Wood offers custom board layouts, trim and finish options, while vinyl offers coordinated panel styles and a care routine without staining.
Is vinyl suitable for Maine winters?
Yes, quality vinyl is built for cold climates. Post depth and snow management matter more than the panel itself.
How long does wood fencing last?
It varies with material, exposure and maintenance. Staining, good drainage and keeping vegetation off the boards all help.
Do you install commercial fencing?
Yes: security fence, enclosures, gates and property boundaries for businesses, property managers and HOAs.
Do I need a permit?
Permit requirements vary by municipality and sometimes by fence height or location. Check with your town. We can't speak for local codes.
Can you install on a slope?
Yes. Depending on the material we rack panels to follow the grade or step them down it. We'll show you how each looks.
What happens if the ground is rocky?
Rocky soil and ledge are common here. It can affect post placement, method and time on site, and we'll flag it during the estimate if it appears.
Do you offer financing?
We're setting up a financing option. Details will be posted on the financing page once a program is in place.
Should I know my property lines?
Yes. Knowing your boundary before installation avoids the worst kind of fence problem. Existing fences don't necessarily sit on the line.
Can you work from a survey?
Yes. If you have a survey or marked pins, bring them to the site visit. It makes layout much easier.
Do you install pool fencing?
Yes, in aluminum, vinyl and wood. Pool fencing requirements can vary by municipality and should be verified before installation.
